First-year player TreVeyon Henderson has recorded five TDs during the current campaign
New England matched their top unbeaten stretch from the Tom Brady period as they overcame division rivals the Jets 27-14 in professional football
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson led the way with three TDs as the Patriots notched an eight-game winning streak for the first time since star signal-caller Brady's last year with the team in 2019
Signal-caller Drake Maye passed for 281 passing yards and a score, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts
The win extends the New England's lead at the top of the AFC East as they moved to nine victories against two losses, with the Jets bottom after slipping to a 2-8 mark
The opposing team had taken the lead at Gillette Stadium with quarterback Fields rushing for a five-yard touchdown to finish the Jets' opening drive
But the Patriots fought back in the second period as the rookie ran in two seven-yard TDs before the running back hauled in a throw from Maye at the rear of the endzone halfway into the third quarter to push the score to 21-7
"It was a crucial moment for him delivering, and it's been great for him to keep earning playing time," the quarterback commented on the rookie. "He wants to be excellent."
Fields connected with John Metchie toward the end of the third period to narrow the deficit for the visitors but Borregales booted a two kicks in the fourth quarter as the home side closed out the win
